Daniel Hampton
Daniel holds a BS in Engineering from the University of Tennessee–Martin, with a concentration in Mechanical Engineering. He spent the first decade of his career as a Mechanical Engineer in the medical device industry, working with companies such as Smith & Nephew and Lake Region Medical, where precision, safety, and real-world impact mattered every day.
For the past 8 years, Daniel has worked as a Software Engineer, building web and mobile applications that bridge the gap between physical systems and digital products. He currently serves as a Team Lead and Senior Software Engineer at Forty AU, a Nashville-based software consulting firm.
Outside of his professional work, Daniel runs a side business repairing and refurbishing electronics—from game consoles to cameras—driven by a love of figuring out how things work, why they fail, and how to bring them back to life. Whether it’s code, hardware, or a half-working gadget on a workbench, he’s most at home solving problems and helping students see that engineering is less about getting it right the first time and more about learning how to iterate, adapt, and build better solutions
