Healthy Habits HQ

In this 30-week class, your child will make healthy choices with Master Books’ Living Healthy: Nutrition, Exercise, and Making Wise Choices. This fun and flexible curriculum gently introduces topics such as fitness, serving sizes, superfoods, vitamins, the immune system, food safety, and more. With this Creator-honoring course, your student will learn to help themselves to steward the body God has entrusted to them.

Students will:

  • Build up their strength and endurance through daily physical exercise

  • Learn about the different foods that help and harm the body and its functions

  • Discover how their body systems work together and take steps to keep themselves clean, inside and out

  • Become more confident in their communication skills and managing their emotions

  • Assemble their own first aid kit for injuries and create emergency plans for fires and natural disasters

  • Grow more responsible and knowledgeable in the areas of health and safety for themselves and their family

The four units are:

  • Exercise

  • Nutrition

  • Personal health

  • Environmental health and safety

Students will be expected to read from the textbook each week at home and study the vocabulary (several options to do this will be provided). Most lessons are only 1-2 pages long, and we will cover 2-3 lessons per week. During our class time, we will discuss the readings and vocabulary, complete activities in the book, do short exercises, and engage in additional activities that enhance what we learned. This will be a fun class with only reading and a small amount of exercise as homework.
