Competitive Creative Writing
Do you love to write?
Are you competitive?
Did you know that there are creative writing contests for high schoolers offering recognition, scholarships, and cash prizes for various genres like poetry, fiction, nonfiction, scripts, and essays? Other contests offer opportunities for publication and to enhance college applications.
This 30-week class offers students the chance to improve their writing across various disciplines and submit their work for judging and possible awards. We will work as a class on a minimum of 3 individual competition pieces a semester, using peer feedback and multiple edits to achieve the best writing possible.
We will look at competitions for various genres, including, but not limited to:
Poetry
Short stories
Fiction
Script writing
The supply fee covers entry fees to writing competitions. If the entry fee exceeds this amount, additional entries would become optional, and parents would pay the competition fees separately.
