Mystery Solvers: Logic & Learning

In Mystery Solvers: Logic and Learning, students are challenged to think like junior detectives as they solve puzzles, crack codes, analyze clues, and uncover the truth behind age-appropriate mysteries. This class strengthens logical reasoning, problem-solving, attention to detail, and clear thinking—all while having fun.

This class will teach students the basic tenets of logic and critical thinking through classic logic puzzles, hands-on mystery games, group challenges, and storytelling. We will also read through some mystery books together in class to see if we can use our newly learned skills to figure out “whodunnit” before the story ends! Our goal in Mystery Solvers will be to learn to:

  • Think logically and sequentially

  • Identify clues, patterns, and inconsistencies

  • Separate fact from opinion

  • Ask good questions and draw reasonable conclusions

  • Explain our reasoning clearly

Homework:

There will be no reading-heavy or writing-heavy assignments—this class focuses on thinking skills, collaboration, and curiosity. Students should be ready to be challenged in class each week, but there will be little to no written homework, and parents are welcome and expected to help with occasional assignments. This class will be ungraded unless a parent specifically requests a grade for their child.
