Language Arts Through The Green Ember FULL

Join us on an epic literary journey as we explore the The Green Ember series by S.D. Smith studied through the lens of the medieval quest. This engaging language arts class will follow the adventures of Heather and Picket Longtreader while learning how the classic elements of quest literature shape the story and its characters.

Through reading, discussion, and writing, students will be introduced to the study of themes, character development, and symbolism within a richly imagined story world. Lessons will connect the events of the novels to traditional medieval ideals such as courage, loyalty, honor, and perseverance, helping students see how timeless storytelling patterns continue to shape modern literature.

Students will study grammar using Easy Grammar 6 and vocabulary from Word Roots, Level 1, Lessons 15-30. Students will practice descriptive, narrative, and persuasive writing with an emphasis on the five-paragraph essay.

Weekly reading assignments will be the key ingredient in our classroom discussions and activities. Students will be expected to come to class ready to engage in lively discussions.
