Emily Gourley
This is my third year at The Cordova Tutorial. Being part of student education has been a lifelong passion of mine. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Education from Grand Canyon University and have taught in public schools in and around Fayette County and Memphis. Before that, I homeschooled my two children from 1st grade to Senior year. I feel that experience is important because I have played a role in both public education and homeschooling.
I also hold a QAST (Quality Assurance Screening Test) level 2 for the state of Arkansas and recently passed the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) for the state of Tennessee.
I am currently working full-time as a qualified Educational Interpreter for Deaf Connect of the Midsouth, serving Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in the Memphis-Shelby County School System.
My husband and I have been married for 32 years. We credit our marriage's success to our faithful Lord and Savior. We both grew up in this area and have deep roots in our families and church. We attend First Baptist Church in Collierville, where I am part of a team of qualified interpreters to interpret both Sunday School and parts of our main worship service in American Sign Language.
The Lord has made a special place in my heart for the Deaf community, and I believe anyone passionate about learning ASL will be an asset to it, no matter what path that person takes in the future.
