Crochet

In this hands-on crochet class, students in grades 6–12 will explore the art of crochet while learning the fundamental skills to create beautiful, functional projects. Crochet is both a practical life skill and an excellent outlet for creativity and self-expression, allowing students to turn simple materials into handmade gifts, accessories, and useful items.

Students will learn how to hold a crochet hook and yarn, create a slip knot and foundation chain, and work basic stitches such as single crochet and double crochet. As skills progress, students will practice reading patterns, counting stitches, and following written and visual instructions. Projects will include granny squares, amigurumi (adorable small stuffed toys), and other creations chosen by the class. Students will also have the opportunity to progress to more advanced projects based on individual ability.

Throughout the course, students will develop patience, perseverance, fine motor skills, and craftsmanship in a supportive and encouraging environment. No prior crochet experience is required.

Required materials: Tutor will provide all necessary materials.

Homework: Some students may require extra time to complete projects at home if they are unable to finish in class. This is not a graded class.
